So, finally some news from me. After preparing for the long trip on Wednesday February 6th we arrived at Schiphol airport at 5am. After checking in our bags (mine was 19.6KG) we had a cup of coffee to stay awake.
Then we had the security checks… and ofcourse they didn’t liked my external hdd. So it got scanned for the 2nd time. I guess the harddisk is virus free now!
First flight from Amsterdam to Copenhagen was completely dark, it was cloudy and raining.

After a good takeoff we saw the sun rising, which was a nice sight. The 2nd flight was nice aswell, same weather, so we couldn’t see the country after takeoff.
Around 12am we landed at Vantaa, Helsinki airport, and claimed our baggage. It seems that SAS airlines quite liked the handle of my suitcase. It was somehow broken off during one of the flights. So I made a report at SAS baggage claim and got a repair voucher.
Next stop was the Helsinki railway station. We got something to eat in a Helsinki restaurant, and got on the 15:30 train to Ylivieska. A trip of 6 hours. I tried to catch some sleep and watched a movie on my laptop. We arrived at 20:30 local time in Ylvieska.
We got a nice welcome from Maija and Peter and Tommi. Maija gave us 2 choices were we could stay for the next coming months. We did some shopping for the next morning and unpacked our bags. We introduced ourselves to 3 polish girls. I’ll introduce them later in the next couple of days.
Because it was the first Wednesday of the month, most of the students were going out, so a good opportunity to know everybody from the start.
The last few days we did some shopping, sightseeing and partying. We bought some extra kitchen equipment, and some other basics stuff that we needed.
