Maastricht
After my study in Finland I’ve started my next study at the University of Maastricht. Maastricht is a old city near the river Maas in the south of the Netherlands. The Maas is a long river that begins in the French Ardennes and goes on to the North Sea.
At the University of Maastricht, ‘Unimaas’ I’m taking the course: ‘Master Artificial Intellignce‘. But before I can start with the master I have to do a pre-master first. This means that the level of a Bachelor acquired at a HBO institute, is not equivalent to a Bachelor from a Universitiy falculty. So before I start with the master I have to be at the same level as the University Bachelors! I’ve joined the study association: “Incognito” which will organize activities in the near future. BBQ, some drinks and a good chat.
Finding a nice room here is hard and I didn’t have one until last week. I found a advert about an ‘anti squatter home’. This flat will be demolished in a few monts time (november, december), its up to the council how fast/slow they are. So it’s temporary, I’m still searching for a flat/room.
The flat I’m now at is located in the south west of Maastricht, just a few km from the Belguim border. It is ~2km walk from the the centre of the city, which I’m doing everyday! The bus/train station is on the east side, which is a 20 minutes walk from the centre.
The flat is really empty and echo’ish. Everywhere there are plugs sticking out of the white walls and a big advertposter behind the window. The flat has a concret floor. I bought a gas ring where I can cook my meals on and some other basic things. But I’m still lacking a refridgerator, bicycle and some curtains. If you have one spare that I can use/buy, let me know. I don’t have my own internet connection in my flat yet, so untill then I have to go to the University to check my mail. (The wireless connection is terrible, disconnecting every 5/10 minutes and you have to repeat almost every other sentence when I’m using Skype. The speed is fine(700KB/s, but its not stable).
